New Life was established as a place to welcome students who might not have a chance at an education otherwise. This could be because of a lack of financial resources, learning disabilities, behavioral problems, or being too old for other schools. New Life teaches kindergarten through 11th grade with an emphasis on creative activities and innovative teaching. Through our partnerships and faithful supporters, we are able to provide the students with a daily meal, potable water from a well on the grounds, and affordable tuition options, as well as individual sponsorships for students with particular need. Supporters can also sponsor a classroom for a year, or sponsor a teacher for a year. New Life Primary School employs local members of the community: teachers for each elementary school grade, subject-specialists for the upper levels, and support staff including cooks, administrative assistants, and a groundskeeper. The Dreamer program, which has recently been paused, provided scholarships and professional mentorship for over 20 Haitian young adults to attend college or university in programs like nursing, agriculture, and engineering. Our initiatives extend into the community and homes of our students to impact the lives of their families and ensure that they are growing into the active citizens that their communities need. Most recently, we were able to provide food aid during the COVID pandemic to some of our student’s entire families. In the past we have also aided families with essential home repairs after damaging hurricanes.
